16:00:20 <donuts> hello all!
16:00:31 <championquizzer> \o/
16:00:46 <donuts> I'm trying to watch a rightscon session simultaneously, so let's make this quick :D
16:00:53 <donuts> pad is still here: https://pad.riseup.net/p/tor-ux-team-2022-keep
16:01:02 <donuts> please feel free to update your sections while I do the rest
16:01:12 <championquizzer> donuts: at rightscon too :p
16:03:12 <donuts> nicob/nah: you around?
16:03:30 <championquizzer> donuts: nicob is in another meeting
16:03:34 <nicob> ah i posted in tor-ux that i'm in an s123 meeting, but i added my notes to the pad!
16:03:56 <donuts> nicob: oh ha no problem!
16:03:59 <donuts> thanks!
16:04:13 <donuts> okay in that case let's just check-in with championquizzer and then call it a day :)
16:04:17 <donuts> how are you doing championquizzer?
16:04:38 <championquizzer> report for may: https://lists.torproject.org/pipermail/tor-project/2022-June/003391.html
16:04:48 <nah> o/
16:05:04 <championquizzer> we got some reports of tor-browser#40536
16:05:09 <championquizzer> hey nah
16:05:26 <championquizzer> and tor-browser#40606
16:05:52 <championquizzer> both fenix (TBA) bugs. other than that i think we have discussed most of the issues that we got in the past month
16:06:40 <championquizzer> another spike in requests of private bridges: 52 tickets last month
16:07:13 <donuts> are you getting more from CN after publishing the forum post?
16:07:31 <championquizzer> yes, a majority are from china
16:08:48 <championquizzer> that's the things i wanted to mention from the report :)
16:08:49 <donuts> my understanding is that built-in obfs4 and bridges from bridgedb are mostly enumerated and blocked, is that still correct?
16:08:57 <championquizzer> yes
16:09:31 <donuts> do you know how well snowflake's been working for users?
16:09:36 <championquizzer> snowflake and meek-azure works..but often times users report that it's either too slow..or not working at all
16:10:02 <donuts> yep
16:10:11 <nah> i'm afraid this will happen during the testings
16:10:19 <donuts> yeah connection assist will probably fail outright
16:10:20 <championquizzer> even with the unlisted obfs4 it takes a lot of time to bootstrap into Tor
16:10:36 <championquizzer> ggus tested and confirmed this from a CN vantage point ^
16:10:36 <donuts> I'm just trying to find the censorship snapshot to see what's actually listed there for CN
16:10:46 <championquizzer> but it's the most reliable
16:11:12 <championquizzer> donuts: you mean with connection assist..?
16:11:26 <championquizzer> snowflake i think. if so ^
16:11:29 <donuts> championquizzer: yep
16:11:40 <donuts> there should be multiple options though, but snowflake will definitely be one
16:11:50 <ggus> https://bridges.torproject.org/moat/circumvention/map
16:11:58 <donuts> ah ty ggus, I couldn't find it
16:12:01 <ggus> "cn":{"settings":[{"bridges":{"type":"snowflake","source":"builtin"}}]}
16:12:17 <donuts> oh it's just snowflake
16:13:21 <donuts> okay we can shift this conversation into the S96 meeting
16:13:34 <championquizzer> having meek-azure as a fallback can be helpful for cn
16:13:43 <donuts> yeah I was thinking the same
16:13:58 <championquizzer> ok, next topic
16:14:12 <championquizzer> changes to the tb-manual wrt. 11.5 release is live!
16:14:13 <nicob> our meeting got rescheduled so i'm here now o/
16:14:31 <championquizzer> you can see the changes here: https://championquizzer.pages.torproject.net/manual/
16:15:01 <championquizzer> ticket: https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/web/manual/-/issues/119
16:15:38 <championquizzer> i have to add a few more things but majority of the stuff is done
16:15:53 <championquizzer> i have to add a few strings about https-only mode and bridge-moji
16:16:28 <championquizzer> lmk if you see any issues. feedback very much welcome! :)
16:16:49 <donuts> championquizzer: it's looking fantastic!
16:16:57 <championquizzer> :)
16:17:09 <donuts> so I was thinking from hereon out I should @ you in any tickets where the front-end or strings change
16:17:22 <championquizzer> yes please
16:19:05 <championquizzer> that's all from me. thanks :)
16:19:23 <emmapeel> i want to check if i should open a ticket about a problem. the other day i downloaded a Tor Browser in Tails, and I configured it to connect to the tor already running on my system. it was very difficult with the instructions in start-tor-browser, and one big problem was that the about:tor page was saying that it was not connected to tor, but it was! i opened more tabs and it was working! it
16:19:29 <emmapeel> shouldnt tell me it is not working if it is.
16:19:46 <donuts> thanks championquizzer!
16:19:50 <donuts> and hi emmapeel :)
16:19:58 <emmapeel> hello :)
16:20:13 <donuts> were you seeing a red screen?
16:20:15 <championquizzer> emmapeel: what version of the Tor Browser is this?
16:20:19 <emmapeel> yes, very red screen
16:20:33 <donuts> yeah we need to remove that screen entirely I think
16:20:35 <championquizzer> have you set you new tab to be the about:tor page?
16:21:07 <emmapeel> i was running tor-browser-linux64-11.0.13_en-US
16:21:32 <emmapeel> i just downloaded, editer the start-tor-browser thing with the instructions, and started it
16:21:54 <donuts> ok, let me just check to see if I can find an existing issue
16:22:04 <donuts> I think the red screen results in too many false positives though
16:22:14 <donuts> did your address bar say "not connected" too?
16:23:10 <emmapeel> i dont remember if it said not connected in the address bar
16:23:22 <emmapeel> let me see
16:24:17 <emmapeel> it does not say anything on the address bar
16:24:25 <donuts> hrm okay
16:24:42 <donuts> please feel free to create a new ticket then!
16:24:46 <emmapeel> thanks!
16:24:58 <donuts> could you loop me in too please?
16:25:02 <donuts> thanks emmapeel!
16:25:07 <emmapeel> sure
16:25:20 <donuts> ty ty
16:25:50 <championquizzer> yes, thanks emmapeel. i will keep an eye out for similar reports
16:26:32 <donuts> I'm going to go ahead and close the meeting, unless anyone wants to discuss anything else?
