13:59:06 <ggus> hello all
13:59:09 <championquizzer> hello! o/
13:59:13 <nina13[m]> hi!
13:59:16 <ggus> Community Team meeting is starting now
13:59:22 <ggus> welcome everyone! o/
13:59:31 <rhatto> o/
13:59:34 <ggus> here's our meeting pad: https://pad.riseup.net/p/tor-community-team-2022-keep
14:00:06 <ggus> we have only one item on the agenda, but i think it will be quick
14:05:41 <ggus> while you update the pad, i'll share some activities that happened this weekend
14:06:31 <ggus> ahf did a tor talk at MCH2022: https://program.mch2022.org/mch2022/talk/MUP7MX/
14:07:00 <ggus> MCH is still live streaming activities: https://streaming.media.ccc.de/mch2022/Abacus
14:07:19 <championquizzer> <3
14:07:32 <raya[m]> <3
14:07:48 <nina13[m]> 👍️
14:07:54 <ggus> ahf talk: https://streaming.media.ccc.de/mch2022/relive/207
14:08:59 <ggus> we also had a relay operator meetup at MCH, but i didn't see pictures or a report yet
14:09:06 <ahf> it went very well
14:09:14 <ahf> we were ~15-20ish people in the c-base village
14:09:19 <championquizzer> woo! very nice
14:09:25 <championquizzer> ty ahf
14:09:27 <ahf> we went over MyFamily with mixed bridges, and relays being a wanted item for one of the big operators
14:09:28 <ggus> and in NYC, during HOPE, holmes talked about Quiet an app like slack but built on onion services: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/e/2PACX-1vRWnoTREwHqxPfTxkYyFUIKwNhkDVwDAqDCX9lzPcIqqX70uZFdjVkX_SbUyZP8a529y_CxPAj6jKf8/pub?start=false&loop=false&delayms=3000#slide=id.p
14:09:35 <ggus> ahf: very nice!
14:09:36 <ahf> why ipv6-only relays are no bueno
14:09:44 <ahf> we went over that some people were interested in official docker images
14:10:25 <ahf> we had a bit of the usual ph34r towards people wanting to run exit relays, but i think i shot that down and made it a bit more productive and we talked about networking with each other and support rather than discouring each other via fud
14:10:40 <ahf> (felt very happy about finally doing that because i have been so tired of that at the relay ops meetings in germany)
14:11:17 <ahf> and a few other minor things, but nothing big
14:11:29 <ahf> we talked about performance in virtualized vs. container vs. "native" environments
14:11:33 <ahf> richard was there too from tpi
14:12:21 <emmapeel> oops sorry im late
14:12:48 <ggus> ahf: we have a ticket about creating and *maintaining* a relay image in docker
14:12:58 <emmapeel> damn thunderbird, whats up with the alarms?
14:13:03 <ahf> ya
14:13:20 <ahf> i said we are getting more experienced with docker inside the org due to our move to gitlab-ci and gitlab
14:13:27 <ahf> but we are not at the point where we feel like we can maintain it
14:13:28 <ggus> https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/community/relays/-/issues/43
14:13:41 <ahf> oh, people also loved metricsport and want more of it
14:13:45 <ahf> i told them about our hackweek stuff there
14:15:47 <ggus> ahf: did you get any question about the ongoing ddos?
14:17:19 <ggus> emmapeel: let us know when you finish to update the pad
14:17:58 <emmapeel> im done, thanks!
14:18:08 <ggus> cool!, ty
14:18:15 <emmapeel> sorry!
14:19:05 <ggus> * Tor dev meeting community team prep
14:19:41 <ggus> did you book your flights to the dev meeting?
14:19:58 <ahf> ggus: a bit, but mostly after my talk
14:20:10 <raya[m]> ggus: booked
14:20:16 <nina13[m]> yes
14:20:19 <championquizzer> yep, booked
14:21:02 <emmapeel> yes
14:21:17 <ggus> cool!
14:21:40 <rhatto> ggus, yep!
14:22:21 <ggus> from the team, i believe only emma and i joined the previous tor dev meetings. so i thought about doing a retrospective next week during our team meeting
14:23:11 <raya[m]> sounds good
14:23:20 <ggus> before i start preparing this retrospective, what questions do you have about the dev meeting?
14:24:07 <emmapeel> nice
14:26:06 <raya[m]> it's my first time so i'm not sure what to expect haha
14:26:49 <emmapeel> it is going to be a bit sad because it will be not open to other people
14:26:51 <rhatto> ggus, im curious about what we should prepare in terms of discussions... also not sure on what to expect :)
14:28:03 <ggus> we will have a public schedule on the wiki and you're free to attend other teams sessions. in the previous meetings we had two community team sessions: retrospective and roadmap
14:28:11 <emmapeel> it is a good place to propose discussions with the rest of the project
14:28:59 <ggus> rhatto: if you propose a session, you should prepare the discussion and also work on what are the goals and outputs for the session
14:30:06 <ggus> we can do a session presenting some work to other teams. for example, in 2019 dev meeting, duncan did a session about Tor personas and other teams joined it
14:31:01 <rhatto> ggus, yes, im considering to propose a session on onion services' usability... but still have no idea about the amount of work involved :)
14:32:08 <rhatto> ... or just plug it into some existing roadmap session
14:33:22 <ggus> rhatto: i think for the onion services sessions, we should work on it before the dev meeting, or we will just reinvent the wheel

14:34:07 <ggus> https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/team/-/wikis/meetings/2019/2019Stockholm/DailyAgenda
14:34:14 <emmapeel> yes, plugging in would be the best for the meeting. i mean, we dont have many opportunities to talk face to face. i think cross-team development is important
14:35:09 <ggus> ah! here is a better link: https://nc.riseup.net/apps/onlyoffice/s/WCk5xjAGcXgGSJY
14:36:58 <ggus> and sessions notes: https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/team/-/wikis/meetings/2019/2019Stockholm/Notes
14:37:27 <ggus> you don't need to read now, but please bookmark it and read this week
14:37:38 <raya[m]> nice
14:40:04 <ggus> we have six team meetings before the dev meeting, so we have plenty of time to brainstorm and work on proposals
14:41:01 <ggus> next week can we do this dev meeting retrospective via BBB?
14:41:08 <raya[m]> sounds good!
14:41:22 <nina13[m]> it would be great
14:41:23 <emmapeel> cool
14:41:27 <rhatto> yes
14:41:38 <championquizzer> ack. BBB sounds good
14:41:56 <ggus> great!
14:42:38 <ggus> i'll meet on this room: https://tor.meet.coop/gus-dib-5tv-zu3
14:43:50 <ggus> alright, anything else about this or other topic? this week we will have a long weekend :)
14:44:53 <emmapeel> yay!
14:44:55 <raya[m]> hehe
14:45:19 <championquizzer> thanks all! have a good week!
14:45:27 <ggus> have a good one o/
14:45:28 <championquizzer> and a good long weekend too!
